This 172-page hardback, full color book, co-authored by Jerry Taylor and Ray Poteat and published by  Indiana Press, is an update on what the former Clinchfield Railroad has become under today's CSX operations; how it operates, what it hauls, what customers it serves, and the overall importance of the heavy-tonnage corridor to its present day owners.  Over three years in the making, the book uses photos, maps, and charts to illustrate the story, based roughly on the traffic transported over the line for the  entire year of 2005.

Jerry Taylor's railroad experience covered many levels of management service, from Operating Vice President, Long Island Railroad, to stints as Trainmaster, Superintendent, and General Manager on New York Central and Penn Central.

Ray Poteat spent 43 years as an Agent-operator in the Transportation Department of the Clinchfield Railroad and its successors, and worked at every station on the line after 1957.

The book retails for $39.95, but order it from the Carolina Clinchfield Chapter at

 $32.95, postpaid.
