Regular Monthly Meetings Our local members meet on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m., at the Town Hall in Bostic, NC, for a short business meeting, followed by a railroad flavored program designed to suit the interests of the membership. Perhaps ninety percent of the time, those programs relate to the former Clinchfield Railroad. Usually attended only by those living near enough to do so, the meetings are, however, open to all members, regardless of the distance of travel, and we are always glad to see our distant members.
Annual Meeting Our Annual Meeting is a more serious affair, consisting of a dinner meeting held on the first Saturday in November, and attracts a much wider audience than our regular meetings. It is at this time that the annual election of officers is held. It is also the time for presentation of any special awards for service or recognition, as well as the announcement of the winners of our annual photo contest. The entertainment for the evening is always a program presented by special guests known as authorities on Clinchfield Railroad history or operations. Previous presenters have been Scott Jessee and Ray Poteat, both of whom worked for the Clinchfield Railroad, Dave DeVault, Steve King, Ron Flanary, Jim Walker and Glenn Fisher, Clinchfield historians, Dave Rohal, who served for a while as CSX General Manager of the former Clinchfield line, as well as Carl Jensen, Regional Vice President of the NRHS, and of Norfolk Southern excursion fame. Other equally well known and informed personages will be presenting the entertainment at future Annual Meetings.
